Mid Summer Festival

​Apart from Christmas, midsummer, midsommar is the most important holiday in the Swedish calendar. Midsummer which is known as St John's Day is to celebrate summer solstice. In other words, it is celebrating the period when the sun is at its shortest distance from the celestial equator(the earth). It is on or about June 21st that marks the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere (the start of summer). ​
